NCRA: Anderson Wires Belleville Field

series report

BELLEVILLE, Kan. – Sept. 4. John Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska started on the pole and never looked back in claiming his first feature victory of the season with the National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) as the tour made its second and final appearance of the season at the Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kansas on Sunday night.

Anderson, aboard the familiar #2 Shop Quik/All-Star Performance sponsored Masterbuilt late model, used the Jay Dickens power plant to take the lead at the start of the 15-lap feature over pole sitter Steve Kempt.

Anderson would open up a full stretch lead over Kempt and despite a caution with two laps to go for current series points leader Steve Kosiski’s flat right rear tire, survived the restart and never looked back in claiming his fourth career series victory atop the Belleville High Banks.

Kempt settled for second and officially claimed the inaugural championship for the series Great Plains region. Gary Gorby came home third while Earl Kinderknecht finished fourth. Dave Conkwright started ninth and finished fifth.

Jimmy Seagraves originally crossed the line to finish third, but was disqualified for being light at the scales.

Seagraves and Anderson topped heat race action for the 15-car field.
