SUPR: Adams Gets Season's Second Win in CPS Photo-finish

HAUGHTON, La. - Sept. 4. One of the SUPR series' most enduring competitors, northwest Louisiana veteran Ronny nipped ninth starting up-and-comer Kyle Cummings by a half car length to get his second win of the season as the Southern United Professional Racing Series returned to Champion Park Speedway.

comfortable lead. Ashley covered his line well as Kenny Merchant, winner of the three previous races held here this season, advancing to third to pressure the young Ashley.  Merchant's bid ended when he nicked an infield tire as he nudged his #28 under Ashley, ending his night midway through the race with minor suspension damage.

By then, Cummings had dipped into the top five to continue his slow but steady advance, and continued to move up until finally getting by Ashley and reeling in Adams to make his final play for the lead out of the last turn. Cummings would fall short by a foot and settle for his third runner up finish of the season at his home track.

Ashley maintained third to earn his series best to date, with Jon Mitchell and southern Arkansas driver Odie Green completing the top five.
