Fastrak: Pegher Tops
Crate Program at Tyler County
MIDDLEBOURNE, W.V. - Sept. 3. The United Rental Industrial Division Fastrak Late Model division was also on
the lineup at Tyler County Speedway on "Black Diamond 125" weekend, and Mike Pegher, Jr. got the jump on
a late restart to claim the $3,000 win in the 30-lap race that was co–sanctioned by the Northeast Touring
Series and the Mid Ohio Valley Region.
At the start, Joe Martin out dragged Doug Horton to turn one for the point and led four laps before the yellow
fell Tim Dohm and Kris Southern, who collected each other in turns one and two. Martin, Horton, John Volpe, Max
Blair, and Pegher were the top five.
The caution returned on six for debris then again on lap nine for Jeff Fornash's and Derek Rogers' spins in turn
four. It was unfurled again on the restart for Kirk Isner and Lester Huffman’s wreck.
At the half way mark, Martin was still in command with Pegher hot on his tail. Horton, K.C. Burdette and Dan
Angelicchio (from 12th) were now third through fifth.The next stoppage came on the 17th circuit as Rogers got
On the restart, Martin and Pegher began their side by side duel. A final caution waved on lap 28 setting up a
shootout. Pegher got the jump and snared the lead. Martin chased him down the back chute, but could not make a
bid. Pegher, driving the #1 Cochran / Zero Wraps sponsored machine took the checkers. Martin had to settle for
second. Blair, Angelicchio and T. Dohm (from 15th) completed the top five.
