MDRL: Jewell Nabs "Stars n; Stripes 40" at Richmond Michael Despain RICHMOND, Ky. - Sept. 3. - Richmond Raceway presented the "Stars and Stripes 40" over Labor Day weekend,
co-sanctioned by the STARS MDRL and STARS VRS series. Mike Jewell of Scottsburg, Ind. visited victory lane in
the co-sanctioned event and picked up a $3,000 payday. Back underway, Todd and Jewell continued to battle side-by-side for the lead, with Jewell having secured the top
spot once again by the halfway signal. Jewell proceeded to survive four more caution periods in the final half of
the 40-lap event and the checkered flag first aboard his Southern Indiana Rock Drilling/MPC Motorsports/Morgan
Foods/Rick Julian Towing sponsored #9. Todd would finish second, while Hatton would recover from a spin on first
attempted start of the event to race his way from the rear of the field to finish third overJason Barrett and Timmy
Yeager.
