MARS: Survivor Vaught Collects First 2011 Win at "Topless Thunderfest"

MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Sept. 23. Will Vaught of Crane, Missouri picked up his first MARS win of the 2011 season at night #1 of the "Topless Thunderfest" at the historic Thunderbird Speedway.  Vaught led every lap of the 15-lap feature that was slowed by two cautions.  
 
The race was originally scheduled for 20 laps, but a multi-car crash on lap 10 forced race officials to reduce the amount of feature laps due to only eight

cars being able to continue, and a rougher than normal race track from heavy soaking rains during the week.  Vaught earned $2,500 for the win, his first with the MARS series since August 29, 2009.
 
Current MARS point leader Brad Looney of Republic, Mo. finished second and was able to increase his point lead over Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., Justin Asplin of Birch Tree, M., and R.C. Whitwell of Tucson, Ariz.
 
The MARS Series will return to action Saturday September 24th at the Thunderbird Speedway for the second and final night of the Topless Thunderfest Late Model Shootout.
