West Coast Shootout: Silva Unchallenged at Petaluma

PETALUMA, Cal. - Sept. 18. A dominant John Silva raced virtually unchallenged to Saturday's 35-lap, $2,000-to-win Late Model feature for the West Coast Late Model Shootout tour at the the Central Valley's Petaluma Speedway.

Silva, of Fremont, got the advantage on fellow front row occupant Jeff Decker on the start, and after a couple of early cautions that flew during the first three circuits, checked out on Decker and the rest as the final 32 go-rounds stayed under the green flag.

That left Decker to hold back challenges from series standout Mike Kirby, Anthony Restad, and Clay Daly to hold his second position, competed closely for second place. Up front, Silva sailed through lapped traffic and maintaioned a half-straightaway lead on Decker at the finish. Kirby took third after getting by Restad during the closing laps.
