SUMMERTOWN, Tenn. - Memphis area driver Dane Dacus led all the way from the outside pole position to take
Friday's Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) win after a very strong early season that had cooled somewhat in
recent weeks. Coming back on Saturday, Anthony Burroughs, of Athens, Alabama, also continued to ramp up his late
season with a flag-to-flag win of his own.
Ben Kittrell tracked Dane Dacus for 30 laps, but couldn't unseat his #54 from the top
spot at Thunderhill. (Connie Putnam)
Friday and Saturday's events were designated as a memorial to Danny Sandrell, a longtime area driver and brother
of Thunderhill's Marketing and Event Administrator, Jab Sandrell. Sandrell passed away in February of this
With 22 Late Model teams on hand, the SRRS dispensed with heat races and aligned the field according to
qualifying times. That put Dacus on the outside of row one for the $2,000-to-win 30-lap event after Ben Kittrell of
Mt. Pleasant, Tenn. eaned the pole position and a $200 fast time award from the Jason M. Neely "Race For A
Cure of Parkinson's Disease Foundation".

Dacus took the lead at the drop of the green and held on to it to take the checkered. Kittrell would chase Dacus
for 30 laps, but would have to settle for second place. The middle of the field behind the top two cars was where
the action was, with two and three-wide racing throughout.
Chuck Proctor, Anthony Burroughs, David Earl Gentry, Jay Brinkley, Ray McElhiney and Josh Putnam would all do
battle for positions. Putnam, who started tenth, started picking the others off and by lap 25, had taken Chuck
Proctor's third place position, only to have a lapped car cause him to drop back to fifth as Proctor regained third
and Anthony Burroughs got by for fourth.

Saturday's field fell five entries shy of Friday's 22 drivers, and once again the field lined up by time trials.
Once again, the outside front row was the place to be after fast qualifier Eric Hickerson lined up the pole
and Burroughs leapt off the outside of the front row and led all the way.
Hickerson held down second until fifth starting Jay Brinkley raced by to finish behind Burroughs. Hickerson
settled for third ahead of Dacus and Mark Mears.
