Show-Me Racing Series:
Flying Farmer Sets Sail at Thunderbird
MUSKOGEE, Okla. - Oct. 9. Show Me Racing Series founder Ken Essary of Cape Fair, Mo. found
victory lane at the historic half-mile of the resurrected Thunderbird Speedway. Essary led all 25 laps from his
pole starting position to pick up his third series win of the year and his 16th career series win overall.
Shane Essary of Aurora, Mo. started fifth and stayed in the top five for the first half of the race before
making his move to third on lap 19, then taking second on the white flag lap when 39-year racing veteran
Darrell Mooneyham's motor let go. Mooneyham would finish 11th.
Dustin Mooneyham, also of Auoroa, started sixth and quickly moved up into the top three early in the race and
finished third. Chris Morelock from Springfield, Mo. had one of his best runs of the year as he finished
second in his heat and after the top eight redraw, found himself starting the feature inside row two. Morelock lost
a few positions early, but held on to finish fourth. Rounding out the top five was 12th starting Scott
Series point leader Justin Well started fourth in the feature but an uncharacteristic spin in turns three
and four on lap three brought out the caution and Wells was forced to restart at the back of the field. Wells
recovered to finish sixth.
