SUPR: Bagley Nails First Win in Rookie Year at USA Speedway

STERLINGTON, La. - Mar. 18. A veteran of kart and Modified racing, but technically still a rookie in the SUPR Late Model Series Late Model division after launching his bid last August, 24-year-old Morgan Bagley followed some strong early first-season showings at USA Raceway in Tucson with his first career Late Model win here at USA Speedway on Friday.

Driving Wayman McMillan's #14 Rocket, the Longview driver, son of former Lone Star Speedway promoter Ronnie Bagley, earned the pole position on passing points and raced away from Timmy Culp and Ronny Adams.  Adams, of Greenwood, La., was able to grab second early on and chase the leader into traffic, briefly taking over the top spot at the midway point before relinquishing the lead back to Bagley.

Bagley and his veteran pursuer continued to race through traffic before top five runner Jon Mitchell tackled the wall in his #5 car, making the Texarkana, Ark. driver the first off the track. With a clear track, Bagley continued to keep Adams in check, as Adams had to turn his attention to a hard charging Culp, who was able to slip past Adams for second and trim Bagley's lead during thhe closing circuits. Culp would have to settle for second ahead of Adams, Allen Tippen, and Kenny Merchant.
