Brian Birkhofer left no doubt who was the strongest in the field on Monday night during the DirtCar Summer Nationals event at 34 Raceway. The Muscatine native led every lap from the pole, building large leads at times to claim his first Summer Nationals triumph of 2011, worth $5,000.
Jack Sullivan and #28 Dennis Erb duel for second place at 34 Raceway. before finishing second and third. After a lot of inconsistency during the first half of the season, GRT flagship driver Sullivan seems to have found his niche' with the tour over the last handful of events. Jeep Van Wormer leads #3 Brian Shirley before nailing down the fourth place finish at 34 Raceway. (Mike Ruefer) Jack Sullivan scored his second straight top three finish, coming home second after 40 laps. Former 'Hell Tour' Champion Dennis Erb, Jr. finished third after starting seventh. Jeep Van Wormer of Pinconning, Mich., chased Erb to the front from his eighth starting spot to finish fourth. Defending Summer Nationals champion Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., rounded out the top five.

The DIRTcar Summer Nationals will take Tuesday off and return to action Wednesday, July 6 at Peoria (Ill.) Speedway.
