Belcher Holds Off Parker For
SHOW LOW, Ariz. - July 2. The Total Seal Late Model series traveled to Thunder Raceway this weekend
and enjoyed some fine racing along with the cooler temperatures. While positions changed quickly throughout the
field, and veteran Lonnie Parker, Jr. came on strong at the end to offer a strong challenge, Terry Belcher, Jr.
stayed out front from start to finish.
Belcher took the quick lead from the start and was content running the faster bottom groove. Behind him,
Tommy Hussak was busy trying to hold off Ricky Thornton, Jr., Joey Moriarty, and Lonnie Parker, Jr., but it did not
take long before Thornton had squeezed by Hussak. Moriarty did not seem to be good enough on the bottom as he
shot to the top to find a way by. This left the door open for Parker as he quickly shot by Moriarty and Hussak for
third as he made his way to the front.
Belcher was comfortably out front as Parker moved by Thornton for second. Behind them, Keith Noyes and Paul
Banghart had joined the battle for the top five, while Thornton experienced mechanical difficulties at this
point. His car finally shut off, but he was able to refire after the quick yellow.
With a few restarts at the end of the race, Parker took continual shots at Belcher as they put on a great race
for the lead, but Belcher was not to be denied as he held on for the win followed by Parker, Hussak, Noyes, and
