Cornbelt Clash: Chad Simpson Three For Three in Iowa Trio

Ryan Clark, series p.r.

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Ia. - July 28. Although the path he took to get there was a little different than the previous two days, the end result was the same as Chad Simpson drove to his third Dart Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series win in as many days when the tour made a stop at CJ Speedway. After strong runs in his qualifiers the previous two nights that led to a win and second place finish in the Fast Dashes, Simpson turned a fifth place heat race effort

First heat and Fast Dash winner Kurt Kile, who drew the #1 pill for the Fast Dash invert, took charge at the drop of the green from his pole position start in the 30-lap feature. Fellow front row starter Kevin Kile fell into the second spot while Jason Utter moved into contention after charging from a fourth row start. Utter made his way past Jeremiah Hurst and Kevin Kile for second just before the race's first stoppage on lap four.

When racing resumed, Kurt Kile again paced the field with Utter pursuing as Simpson made his way into third. Simpson pulled to the outside of Utter as the pair ran side-by-side into turn one. Utter clipped a tractor tire on the inside of the corner, causing enough damage to end his night early. The incident, which brought out the second caution, put Simpson on Kile's

Kile again held sway when the green flag waved as Simpson went to work on the leader. As the leaders completed the ninth circuit, Kile drifted high entering turn one and slipped off the top of the speedway. Although Kile collected his

Simpson survived another pair of stoppages to score the win, his fourth straight in the series and sixth of the season. Chris Simpson made a good run from his fifth row start to finish second, nearly a straightaway behind Chad. Kevin Kile ran third ahead of Tim Isenberg and Jeremiah Hurst.

NALMS Suspends Remaining Season

In a statement released to the racing media Monday, Northern All All Stars Late Model Series (NALMS) owners Shawn Hall and Bob Mooney relased the following statement:

To all NALMS drivers and fans,

Northern Allstars Late Model Series regrets to inform all of our drivers and fans that as of today (May 14, 2012) we will suspend all series races for the remaining 2012 season. The primary reason for the decision to discontinue the series was mainly economics. Tracks, teams and fans are having a hard time these days with the cost of living in general. With the cost of fuel, parts, tires, tickets and lodging, many people just cannot afford to travel to our shows, so we feel it's best to stop for now and try to regroup for the 2013 season.

Our series needs to be able to have at least 18 to 20 shows to cover our cost of putting on these shows and our drivers point funds. With many tracks cutting back on their special events and other tracks just choosing not to have specials at all, it's has really cut our options for race tracks down to a very few unless you are willing to travel several hours away from the Central Illinois area, and that is not cost effective for the racing teams or fans.

In closing we would like to thank all of the drivers and fans whom have supported the series over the years and we hope to be able to come back with a bigger and better season for everyone in 2013.
