Southern Nationals: McCool Breaks Into Mini-Series Win List

SWAINSBORO, Ga. - July 21. Vicksburg, Mississippi driver Bub McCool etched his name into the Southern Nationals Series record book tonight at the Swainsboro Raceway for becoming the 20th different winner in series history.

 

The second generation racer started eighth in the 53-lap main event and grabbed the top spot from fast qualifier, polesitter, and nine-lap leader Chesley Dixon on the tenth circuit. McCool then went on to capture the $5,300 payday in the rain-postponed race by beating Chesley Dixon, last night's winner Jonathan Davenport, 12th starting Mike Collins, and Clint Smith to the checkers. Tony Knowles raced from 19th to sixth.
