WISSOTA: Mars Overtakes Doar For $5k Win in "Dakotah Rumble" at Brown Co.

ABERDEEN, S.D. - July 17. Jimmy Mars claimed his fifth special event win of the season in Saturday's "Dakotah Rumble" 55-lap Late Model featureat Brown County Speedway. Mars, of Menomonie, Wis., earned $5,000 for the win.

With 42 total Late Model teams signed in, Mars earned a starting spot in third while Pat Doar started on the pole inside of Lance Matthees. Matthees spun his #90 on the start to bring out the only caution of the race.

Back under way, Mars tracked Doar for the first 18 laps of the feature before taking the lead in heavy traffic and moving through slower cars for the final 26 circuits of caution-free racing, lapping most of the field in the process. Doar gave up ground to Steve Laursen and Marshall Fegers before finishing fourth. Veteran John Kaanta completed the top five.
