Birkhofer Bags 10,000 On Night One Of "May Daze"
At West Liberty
WEST LIBERTY, Ia. - May 1. Brian Birkhofer, from Muscatine, Iowa, passed Denny Eckrich on lap 17 and lead
the remaining 33 laps to notch his first feature win of the 2010 racing season here at the Muscatine
County Fairgrounds Saturday on night one of the "May Days 2 Classic". The drivers head to Farley for
round two on Sunday at Farley Speedway.

During the early laps, it was Denny Eckrich out front for 16 circuits while Birkhofer clawed his way to
second place and reeled in Eckrich to race the Tiffin, Iowa ace side by side. After putting Eckrich
behind him, Birkhofer raced away with a large lead, as Eckrich faded back to mid-pack.

Birkhofer almost met his Waterloo when he tried to squeeze his #15 between the wall and a lapped car
on the back sraight-away. Birkhofer left his mark on the wall, but otherwise emerged unscathed to
maintain a large lead over Babb at the finish. Seventh starting Billy Moyer overtook Terry Phillips on a
late restart to take third, leaving Phillips and Chad Simpson to round out the top five.
