LINCOLN, Ill. — April 17. The Monster Midwest Tour made its first appearance of the season at Lincoln Speedway
Saturday for a regularly schedule event, as well as a makeup race for a rained-out show on April 2nd. Shannon
Babb and Iowa racer Brian Harris shared top honors in the twin events.
Babb topped the field of 25 in qualifying for the first race, then squeaked out a win in the first heat race
after a back-and-forth squabble with fellow Illinois driver Jason Feger. Harris and Brian Shirley also
claimed heat race wins, but with the redraw among the top two finishers from each heat, it was Ryan Unzicker and
Harris claiming front row starts.
Feger and Shirley slugged it out from the start, with Babb quickly joining the mix and Steve Sheppard, Jr.
right behind. Shirley fell out of contention on lap 24 as he flew off the back straight-away berm trying to
negotiate lapped traffic.
Back under green, a new three-way battle for top honors ensued as Babb found himself with his hands full of
Dennis Erb and Sheppard. That fight would rage until the final caution flew for a loose infield tire that had been
dislodged by a race car. With the restart, Babb kept Sheppard and Erb at bay to garner the win.
In the second race, Harris claimed victory over Feger, Kevin Weaver, Sheppard, and Erb
