Purkey All the Way in Lucas Oil Speedway MLRA

WHEATLAND, Mo. - April 10.
Al Purkey has taken a liking to his
new Larry Shaw Race Car as he topped the Lucas Oil MLRA field at Lucas
Oil Speedway's season opener for
his first ever win at the 3/8ths mile oval. As Purkey took his 47th
career MLRA win, Jeremy Payne was right on his heels to take the
Chad Simpson and #75 Terry Phillips duke it out for seventh spot at Lucas Oil Speedway,
with Simpson ultimately prevailing over the five-time MLRA champ. (Lloyd Collins)
Before coming home third at Wheatland, #07 Kelly Boen tiptoes
through traffic that includes Omaha's Bill Koons (#29), Zach Simmons (#z1), and Jason O'Brien (#15).

Perfect weather greeted 48 Late Model
teams, and three and four-wide racing throughout the pack was the order of the day. but Purkey was the class of the field up front throughout as he won heat race #1 to earn the pole
position for the 30 Lap main event.
Young Jeremy Payne was almost on top his
game with a second place finish in MLRA action at Lucas Oil Speedway Saturday, but it was #33 Al Purkey who claimed
his first career win at the Missouri track. Colorado's Kelly Boen brought his #07 back strong with third
place, just ahead of Brad Looney (#14). (Lloyd
Purkey shot to the lead on the opening lap and held off repeated challenges
from Payne. Heat Race Wins were captured by Purkey, Bill Koons, Larry Jones,
Dave Eckrich, and Jeremy Payne. Raymond Merrill and John Anderson scored B-Main wins to advance to the main

Galena, Missouri's Jesse Stovall won the support A-Modified Feature.
