Johnson Reels in "Hall of Fame" Race at Talladega Short
EASTABOGA, Ala. - April 16. Always a favorite to win here after literally thousands of laps at the one-third
mile oval affectionately known as the "Hornet's Nest", Ronnie Johnson didn't disappoint his legion of Southeastern
fans when he reeled in leader Stacey Holmes and brought home the $4,000 in the "Hall of Fame Week" event at
Talladega Short Track.
Johnson started third in the field behind polesitter Holmes and long-time track regular Terry Smith. As Holmes
took off to a strong lead, Johnson found himself engaged in a fight for second as a lap 17 caution slowed the
field. With the field back up to speed, the battle resumed until Johnson was finally able to get the edge on Smith
at the halfway point.
